The "Large" version differs in one thing, and that one thing is decisive: main compartment 140 cm instead of 95 cm.
When a weapon with mounted optics, a suppressor, or a longer barrel doesn't fit in the standard case. In the shorter one it either won't fit or presses against the end — which means pressure on the optics for the whole trip.
