10 × 25 versus 20 × 50

The lower magnification gives a field of view twice as wide — 101 m at 1000 m instead of 52 m. You spot a moving object instantly with these, while with 20x you'd still be searching. The trade-off: the smaller 25 mm objective gathers less light, so they're weaker at dusk.

About the Ruby coating

The reddish lens coating reduces glare in bright light and gives the image a warmer tint. Handy on a sunny day; in hazy conditions, contrast can drop.
