A tourniquet is one of those items whose value is measured in seconds. Here it does not come alone, but with the two things that make it usable: scissors to cut clothing away, and a pouch that keeps both where your hand finds them without looking.
The tourniquet works on a windlass principle — turning the handle tightens the strap until the bleeding stops. A controlled number of turns means it can be learned in a single training day and used one-handed under stress, when fine motor control is the first thing to go.
Rhino Rescue windlass tourniquet, 89 × 3.8 cm strap
Medical shears for clothing and belts
MOLLE pouch with a removable back panel
Made of 700D polyester with a polyurethane coating. The main compartment holds the tourniquet under a Velcro flap and a separate narrow pocket holds the shears, so pulling one out does not lose the other. Side elastic straps cinch the pouch down onto its contents so nothing rattles as you move. The MOLLE back panel comes off, so the same pouch moves from a plate carrier to a backpack strap in seconds.
Material: 100 % 700D polyester, polyurethane coated
Tourniquet strap: 89 × 3.8 cm
Pouch dimensions: 13 × 5 × 7 cm
Weight: 200 g
Colour: green
Compatibility: MOLLE / PALS
Where the tourniquet sits on your rig is the one thing you do not experiment with. Pick the spot once and keep it through every drill — your hand has to find it without looking.
